About

Departing from historic Port Clyde, board one of our two ferries and we’ll transport you through the waters of beautiful Muscongus Bay to enchanting Monhegan Island, 10 miles off the coast of Maine.

Our two ferries, the Laura B and Elizabeth Ann, follow our protected route out of the harbor past Marshall Point lighthouse. Enjoy the ferry ride as you step back in time passing pine-clad islands, seeing birds of many varieties. If the timing is right, porpoises and small whales rise from the water just beyond our bow. On the return trip, we pass close to Seal Rock, where we often spot entire families of seals frolicking in the water and basking in the sun.

While the island is best known as a summer destination, winter brings a special, peaceful beauty to Monhegan where about 70 people live year-round. We are the only year-round connection to the mainland bringing mail and necessities to the residents and businesses of Monhegan Island… and, as Amazon notes, one of the most remote places they deliver thanks to our ferry service and the grit of our captains and crew.
